Top 5 Off the Beaten Tracks Around the World

Posted by on

The weird, the wacky and the downright quirky: Spots around the world that have to be seen to be believed.

1. Pink Lake, Western Australia

Is it a milkshake, or a lake? You won't believe your eyes seeing this pretty pink body of water in the middle of an island in the Recherche Archipelago.

2. Salvation Mountain, California, USA

Take half a million gallons of paint, a mountain and a happy artist living in his truck - and you get an epic, candy-coloured mountain in the middle of the Californian desert.

3. Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau, Germany

Get lost in the scents and beauty of the enchanting wisteria flower tunnels. Exploding with colour in all spectrums of purple, the two tunnels look more like a dream world than real life.

4. Goat Tree, Tamri, Morocco

Do goats grow on trees? Well, in the small village of Tamri, they seem to. Morocco's Argania trees are infested with nut-hungry goats, who climb like acrobats all over the trees in search of their favourite berries.

5. Zhangye Danxia Landform

A result of red sandstone and mineral deposits being laid down over 24 million years, the 'Rainbow Mountains' are a kaleidoscope of colourful rock formations completely surreal to the eye.
