We love this one and try remind ourselves as we grow that little bit older each day. Pg – 115 – Swept away by Wanderlust.
We have a page in Swept away by Wanderlust that has the above quote by Eleanor Roosevelt. This Sunday some friends and I well and truly lived by it!
With beautiful weather it was time to kick off summer early in Australia. So a bunch of friends and I, drove South of Sydney down to the Royal National Park, ending up at Wattamolla Beach – where it beholds an extremely scary high cliff that you can jump off. Wow – time to live by what I tell others to do in our travel journal – “Do one thing every day that scares you!”. As I was about to jump off the 10 m high cliff, I was a little to scared to do it by myself so I jumped together with the much more composed and cool Maria. It was absolutely thrilling. After that first jump my adrenaline was pumping and with the gorgeous emerald water sparkling in the sun I wanted to do it over and over again. Feeling wild and full of life we found the perfect tree to climb to watch the sunset from. Funnily enough it also offered a view to watch a random guy dressed up in Winnie the Pooh who proposed to his girlfriend. Then before we knew it, all good things have to come to an end and it was time for sunset drives home in the uber cool green care share and Chrysler Cross fire! A beautiful day, friends, laughter, swimming and good vibes!
So what’s on your scary list, big or small? Write to us, we would love to hear them? We dare you! xx
The beautiful creative soul, Salleigh Olsen completely swept away nine of her closest people! Last night we celebrated the new works ‘The Faces of You’ by our gorgeous friend Salleigh Olsen at the Sallerno Gallery, Glebe (Sydney). When I walked into the gallery I was completely heartfelt and speechless. This gorgeous artist was standing in the middle of the floor shinning like the bright star she is in a long elegant yellow dress, surrounded by her new work, where by our surprise she used all her close friends as seperate muse’s.
As each one of us who had a special painting dedicated walked in the door we were absolutely overwhelmed. It was a beautiful night. Great crowd with lots of fun posing and dancing in front of our paintings, then celebrating even more after! Unfortunately, as Hanna is in Perth she couldn’t make it, but her flowers and spirit sure did! We are both just so honored to know and be part of such a beautiful persons life. Salleigh’s exhibition is on for 2 weeks at the Salerno Gallery, so if your in Sydney don’t miss this amazing artist’s work or you can check her work out online.
Today, it was a beautiful sunny Sunday in Sydney where we crept pass the Blackmores Marathon into Centennial Park for a mag photoshoot with Jen Pfeifer from darling & jen who took photos of the super adorable couple, Adrian & Claire! It was such a great morning and fun photoshoot, always easy to photograph when you have a gorgeous and extremely sweet real life couple. Wholly crap, Jen took some amazing shots which we can’t wait to get! His a few behind the scenes…
Wanderlust is not only about exploring the wide world. Grabbing a loved one for a day of exploring your own city by foot can sometimes fulfil all your lusts. We love to get off our daily routine and scoot, bike or skate away to a new suburb, walk the backstreets & check out the life around. There are hidden gems everywhere!
One of the best advantages when living in Malmö is that you can take the train across a bridge and you’re in Copenhagen, Denmark in 20 minutes! This of course amazes every Australian (especially the curious Ash) where you can drive for a day in Australia with nothing in sight, not even the next state. So being so close, I left work early to meet up with Ash at noon to catch the train to Denmark. We had an absolutley beautiful day of strolling the streets of Copenhagen, visiting endless shops & stores to source the best one to stock our book, exploring the urban backstreets and little basement cafe’s and of course to take her to ‘little Amsterdam’ as she never had time for the big one.
Was a great day with great success as the very first store we visited they said send us 5 copies!
Our book is now stocked in Atheneum Academic Books and we have quite a few other prospects!
And we have to say – we fell in love with the cute lil store Project 4, it’s interior, owner and his tattoo. Keeping our fingers and toes crossed that we’ll be in there soon aswell!
Tick! We now have a distributor in the UK & Europe!!
Going to all the bookstores in London was grand. It was so much fun to see them all, learn how each one was established and admire the unique designs of each store. And we got a fantastic response on the book. When showing the store managers Swept away by Wanderlust, most were really interested and wanted to stock our book which was so delightful and encouraging to hear how much they like it. However, I learnt that many stores in the UK only purchases books through a Distributor. They were all very helpful with what distributors they ordered their books through and if they recommended any ones in particular for us to use. Before I knew it I had 3 main distributors which each store seemed to use. So after some discussion on the phone as usual me & Hanna decide to get us a distributor. I had already researched distributors when i first got to London as we had it in mind and felt like i sent a million emails. but it was probably more like 10! And from those I only got 2 replies, one being an automatic reply! It was a bit depressing, so a new plan of attack was needed because I couldn’t leave London without a distributor! I then decided to follow up on my emails but only on the 3 which the stores recommended. Then after many phone calls and getting transferred a few to many times I finally had a meeting with one of the most well known distributors – Central Books!
Going to the meeting reminded me of when I was in China and visiting all the different printing houses. I was in the area of Hackney which is a suburbian/industrial area a bit outside the centre of London. Central Books was right next to the station and stood out as it was the only big tall building in the area. I met with the lovely accounts manager of the company and showed him our book. Two hours later we had a distributor!!! The very well known Central Books whom has been distributing books and magazines since 1939 with a wide breadth of over 150 book publishers, stocking over 10,000 book titles and over 140 magazines is now our distributor for the UK & Europe. When I walked out I called Axel as soon as possible, not beliving it myself I was so excited to say “we are now going to be stocked in the UK baby!” 😉
I promised a friend to take some shots of his beautiful bus ‘The Olive’ for a while now. Today, I finally had some time and what’s better then waking up early a Saturday morning for a shoot followed by a long beach run and refreshing winter swim!
Isn’t she gorgeous? Today, I decided that one day Axel & Ash will have our own old VW mobile office.
